There is a new villain in town for the second season of ‘Black Lightning‘ as Hosea Chanchez (‘The Game’,’96 Minutes’) has joined the cast as Marcus Bishop and will be a recurring character on the show. This may very well be the most significant threat yet which our hero has had to go up against. If you’ve been waiting for a villain that can give Black Lightning a run for his money, this is the one which you may have been waiting for!
If you’re unfamiliar with Bishop, he is “a secret ASA operative in league with Dr. Helga Jace, played by Jennifer Riker. Codenamed Shakedown, he possesses the ability to generate vibrations and frequencies at will. Irreverent, bitter and impulsively violent, this ex-Air Force officer killed his superior officer when he was passed over for promotion because of a poor performance review. At Ft. Leavenworth, he signed with Dr. Jace and embraced his role with the ASA, taking pleasure in producing a high body count on his covert missions.”
It isn’t clear how or why Shakedown will be involved with Black Lightning quite yet, but from his description, it is quite evident that they won’t be playing on the same team. While Peter Gambi is a member of the ASA, it seems quite unlikely that Black Lightning will be thrilled to work with someone as unstable as Bishop or Bishop wanting to work with someone who isn’t trying to create a high body count and will likely try to prevent that from happening.
