Mark Hamill Shares A Better Look At The New Chucky From 'Child's Play'

Many have their doubts about the new remake of ‘Child’s Play’, but it got a shot of legitimacy a couple of weeks ago when it was announced that Mark Hamill would be providing the voice for the killer doll Chucky.  Now, Hamill has offered a new look at the modern update of the Budi doll, via his Twitter:

The new version still looks somewhat like the original Chucky, with red hair, big blue eyes, overalls, a striped shirt, and a big kitchen knife, but is slightly less maniacal looking when not in kill mode, which is actually even more disturbing.  The new version also features the logo “Budi” which is the name of the new toy.

The new Chucky has been upgraded to include full-body scanning and smartphone compatibility.  That’s what we need.  An even more resourceful killer doll.

Last year, director Lars Klevberg stated:

Child’s Play was, and is, one of my all-time horror movies and it was one of my introductions to horror.  I got the script [for the remake] and it was really really good, and I knew it was from the producers from It, and I jumped in immediately.”

Hamill’s photo provides a better look at Chucky than the teaser trailer, but this should also give you an idea of what to expect:

Those involved with the original Don Mancini-created ‘Child’s Play’/’Chucky’ franchise are not enchanted with this reboot.  Jennifer Tilly, the voice of Tiffany, the ‘Bride of Chucky’ posted this response:

Tyler Burton Smith (video games ‘Sleeping Dogs’, ‘Quantum Break’) wrote the screenplay for the new film.  ‘Child’s Play’ stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, and Brian Tyree Henry.  ‘It’s Seth Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg serve as producers.

‘Child’s Play’ will slash into theaters on June 21, 2019.
