‘Stranger Things’ star Sadie Sink is sticking to the teen horror genre with her major film debut.  She will headline the second installment of the upcoming ‘Fear Street’ trilogy, based on R.L. Stine‘s bestselling book series.  ‘Fear Street’ was Stine’s followup to ‘Goosebumps’, but geared toward a slightly older audience.  80 million copies of the ‘Fear Street’ books have been sold worldwide.

The movies will come from 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.  Leigh Janiak will direct all three films, and rumor has it that, in an unprecedented move, the three movies will be released in theaters one month apart starting next June!

Here is the film’s synopsis:

In 1994, a group of teenagers find out that the terrifying events that have occurred in their town of Shadyside, Ohio may be connected to each other, and that they may be the next targets.

Previously announced cast members include Kiana Madeira, Olivia Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, and Jeremy Ford.  Reportedly, Madeira and Welch will play two teenagers in love, but who originate from different time periods, with Madeira existing in the mid-1990s, and Welche’s character is from the 1600s.  They are said to be “trying to navigate their rocky relationship when they’re targeted by the crazy horrors of their small town, Shadyside.”

The film began filming in March in the Atlanta area.

Sink will be seen in the third season of ‘Stranger Things’ which will be released by Netflix on July 4.  She will also star in the upcoming horror movie ‘Eli’ releasing later this year.  Last year, she appeared in the drama ‘The Glass Castle’ with Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts.

It was recently revealed that her ‘Stranger Things’ character, Max Mayfield, will be the focus of an upcoming novel in the tie-in book series.
