I can honestly say that I have really missed ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ since it has gone on hiatus. After a mediocre first season where they took themselves and their whole concept a bit too seriously, the show has become a breath of fresh air for superhero television, making light of television tropes in general, and superhero ones specifically, while traipsing throughout time on their missions to save the timeline. I was definitely not expecting the show to bounce back the way it has after that disastrous first season (even giving up on doing weekly reviews because I was not sure I could continue to watch), but their creativity, jokes, and air of general mischief and fun has made them a real treat to watch in the past 3 seasons, especially when compared with all the gloom and doom on the other CW series.
Now, they are about to return for the back half of Season 4, and the trailer is just as nutty as we have come to expect from our Legends. It starts with the gang dressed as Supergirl, The Flash, and the Green Arrow during some kind of photo-shoot at the time bureau, lamenting that they did not participate in the crossover this year (which they also mentioned briefly during their mid-season finale, ignoring phone calls from Kara, Oliver and Barry, with Ray commenting “Must be the yearly crossover”). The trailer goes on to show more of the adventures the rest of Season 4 has in store for our heroes, which seem to include a trip to Mexico for some luchadores and wrestling, a Bollywood dance number, and of course, to keep things a little serious, a trip to Hell, where it appears that Sara will become trapped in an IKEA-esque megastore. Oh, and did I mentioned kidnapping Nixon for an RV trip to Disneyworld?
Who knows what they really have in store for the rest of the season, I just know I am content to sit back and enjoy the ride. Check out the trailer for yourself below, and make sure to share your thoughts in the comments below!
