Dark Horse has a new show based on one of their comic properties in the works as Syfy has picked up ‘Resident Alien’! While I’m trying to get excited about this news, you can’t help but worry that it will end up getting canceled while still in it’s prime like ‘The Expanse‘ did. However, the series announcement doesn’t come as a surprise as the network has been having quite a bit of success with ‘Krypton‘ and their choices for DC shows are likely highly limited.

The series is based on the comics by co-creators Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse. It is being brought to us by executive producers “Chris Sheridan (‘Family Guy’), Mike Richardson (‘The Mask’) and Keith Goldberg (‘The Legend of Tarzan’) of Dark Horse Entertainment, as well as Justin Falvey (‘The Americans’) and Darryl Frank (‘The Americans’) of Amblin TV. Universal Cable Productions is currently responsible for bringing the show to life.

At this time, Syfy has only committed to a so there is always the chance that this show could end up dead on arrival as ‘Tremors‘ did.

Here is the logline for the show:

RESIDENT ALIEN is a dark, twisted and comedic fish-out-of-water story that follows a crash-landed alien named Harry who, after taking on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor, slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth — ultimately asking the question, “Are human beings worth saving?”

‘Resident Alien’ is the first pilot ordered for Syfy’s 2018 development state. With ‘Deadly Class‘ already preparing to be released it looks as if the network is making a slight shift towards more comic related shows.
