After a long wait, ‘American Gods’ is returning to Starz and a new extended trailer has been released to give fans a glimpse of what to expect from Season 2. The old and new gods were on the verge of war at the end of Season 1. While it doesn’t look the conflict has yet erupted, both sides are shown plotting against their foes, with Mr. World (Crispin Glover) and The Technical Boy (Bruce Langley) smarting over the smack-down delivered last season by Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) and Easter (Kristin Chenoweth).
While Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) appears to still be in the employment of Mr. Wednesday, his heart may have shifted away from cheating Laura (Emily Browning), as he is shown paired up with Bilquis (Yetide Badaki). Meanwhile, Laura is shown getting closer to tortured heartthrob Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber).
The trailer also gives a first look at some of the new cast members, Sakina Jaffrey as Mama-Ji, a mild-mannered hotel maid, who is in reality, the embodiment of the Hindu Goddess of Death, Kali; Dean Winters as Mr. Town, an agent employed by the New Gods; Kahyun Kim as New Media, “the goddess of global content and in this age, a cyberspace chameleon, who is also a master of manipulation”; and Devery Jacobs as Sam Black Crow, a character appears to be an ordinary mortal at first.
The one-hour drama centers on a war brewing between Old Gods and New Gods, as the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily lose believers. Their challengers are an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.

Expect to see more of Season 1 cast/characters Omid Abtahi as Salim, Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis/Toth, Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy/Anansi, Mousa Kraish as The Jinn, and Chris Obi as Mr. Jacquel/Anubis. Rumor has it, Cloris Leachman (Zorya Vechernyaya), and Peter Stormare (Czernobog) will also be back in guest roles. Unfortunately, Chenoweth and Gillian Anderson (Media) will not appear this season.
Season 2 of ‘American Gods’ premiers on Starz on March 11 at 8pm EST.
