In one of the craziest trailers of 2018, and no, I am not using that phrase in a good way, ‘Iron Sky: The Coming Sky’s’ second trailer (yes, SECOND trailer, as it did have a first, because apparently this movie has been trying to come out for some time now thanks to its cult following) throws a lot at you, and somehow to me, feels not that exciting. And that is saying something, because the movie features humanity in exodus on the moon, hiding out in a base formerly occupied by Nazi’s, having fled there because the world was destroyed in a nuclear war.
In the trailer we see a lot of other crazy things as well, including dinosaurs, what appears to be a whole eco-system in the center of the Earth, more Nazis, what appears to be space Hitler, space Hitler RIDING A DINOSAUR, a woman punching a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and lots of spaceships flying around. And yet, to me, maybe because the effects look cheap, maybe because the music sounded like filler music, maybe because I’m an editor and it just was not cut very well, the whole thing just fell flat for me. I know some people are excited for this, and I cannot fault them for enjoying campy and odd films like ‘Iron Sky’ and this sequel, but I just don’t quite see the appeal in this one.
Check out the trailer for yourself below, maybe you have a different opinion about the whole project, and are able to appreciate aspects of it I cannot. If you do, please share your thoughts in the comments below!
