Both Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders’s Maria Hill will have a fairly significant part to play in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and now we’re starting to learn what that is. A newly released official synopsis for the film is teasing us that after the events in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ that we’ll see Peter Parker working for Nick Fury in some capacity! It still isn’t clear exactly how Spidey is back in the land of the living but being part of whatever replacement for S.H.I.E.L.D. that Fury is busy with does help explain that nifty stealth suit we’ve seen Tom Holland sporting.
The synopsis came from the Russian website for Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing and while it doesn’t give us much news about this being a vacation for Parker, it does share this:
Peter Parker and his friends go on summer holidays to Europe. However, the friends will hardly be able to rest – Peter will have to agree to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of creatures that cause natural disasters and destruction throughout the continent.
There were previous rumors that elemental creatures would be what the wallcrawler is initially going up against and while we know that Jake Gyllenhaal‘s Mysterio will end up as a villain, it isn’t clear exactly how that will play out or if he is related to these creatures in any way.
Working for Fury is another nod to the Ultimate Marvel Universe which the MCU is loosely based upon in which we saw Fury reaching out to help train Parker and try to make sure that he stayed on track to becoming a hero and not ending up as a villain.
Are you thrilled at the idea of having Peter Parker working for Nick Fury in some capacity? Will this be as a freelance assignment or in more of official capacity with possible resurrected S.H.I.E.L.D.? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
