Jake Gyllenhaal Finally Talks About Working On Spider-Man: Far From Home

We all know that ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home‘ star Tom Holland is a notorious leaker of information but co-star Jake Gyllenhaal (‘Okja’,’Nightcrawler’) seems to be the exact opposite. In fact, the actor hasn’t uttered a word about his role in the upcoming film until now! We’ve known that he’ll be playing Quentin Beck AKA Mysterio, but beyond that what he’ll be up to and how he became involved has been shrouded in mystery as so much of what Marvel Studios does tends to be.

Gyllenhaal took to Instagram to share details about being Mysterio and does so in a way that would make his character proud. Using the media, a shocked expression, and well-timed cut seems to be the exact kind of delivery that Beck would use as theatrics in the comic! Here is how the actor started to share information about his upcoming part.

I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man.

As a fan of Spider-Man and Mysterio, this resonated with me, and I feel that the classic take on the character is going to shine through on the big screen if this is any indication. The actor hasn’t confirmed or commented on the movie until now but with rumors stating that we’ll see the first trailer from ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ drop this weekend, it would only make sense that he can now start to acknowledge what he’s been up to.

While it isn’t clear if ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ #311 will be an indication of the story which we’ll be seeing in the movie, it could very well be connected! This 1989 book not only gives us the return of Mysterio but also has him pinning a civilian’s death on The Wallcrawler. Putting everyone’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in the crosshairs could be just the distraction that this villain needs to discreetly pull off his own crimes.

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ will be swinging into your local theater on July 5th, 2019!
