Disney is kicking off a new streaming service which is going to include Disney Shows, Star Wars, and Marvel shows but what does that mean for existing content that is out there? The short answer is that we just don’t know. The theory is that we’re going to be seeing everything not on a Disney owned network slowly be transitioned to this new streaming service as contracts run out, and that likely includes anything on Netflix and Hulu.

We know that in 2019 Netflix is losing all of the Disney films and prior shows to this new streaming service but it is unclear if ‘Daredevil’, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Iron Fist’, ‘The Punisher‘ and ‘The Defenders’ will be doing the same as of yet.

However, we do know that according to a feature on this upcoming streaming service that “…while [Disney] currently produces Marvel superhero series such as “Daredevil” for Netflix, new Marvel shows in the future are expected to live on the company’s own streaming service.” We’ve already heard about a new Marvel show doing just that without any details surfacing as well as a live-action Star Wars series but the fates of the other Netflix shows as well as Hulu’s ‘Runaways‘ which has yet to debut are still in question. Contracts might be in place that keep them where they are at for the foreseeable future but it is unclear at this time where they’ll eventually end up going.

However, it is likely only a matter of time before we see the shows transition over.

It should be noted that ‘New Warriors‘ will also likely show up on the network, though 2019 seems like a long push prior to it starting so we’d likely see it appear on ABC or elsewhere first.

Do you think that the Netflix and Hulu shows will be heading straight to Disney’s new streaming platform or will contracts keep them where they are for the immediate future? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
