The Conjuring 3 Will Be Very Different From The First Films

Before director James Wan (‘Saw’,’Insidious’) took over the production of DC’s ‘Aquaman’ and roped one of his favorite actors to work with into the production, he crafted a new horror franchise with ‘The Conjuring.’ While Patrick Wilson (‘The Founder’,’Bone Tomahawk’) hasn’t been in all of Wan’s films, he has been doing a bang-up job as Ed Warren since ‘The Following’ and has appeared in many of the spinoffs as well such as ‘The Nun‘ and the upcoming ‘Annabelle 3.’

While Wilson was speaking about production wrapping up on the second of those films, it was his quick mention of ‘The Conjuring 3’ which stood out as he stated:

“We just finished Annabelle 3 which is cool. It’s nice to dip our toes into that franchise a little bit. Conjuring 3 will be different than anything we’ve seen, which is fun.”

It should be noted that while Wan is producing the next installment of ‘The Conjuring,’ this one is going to be directed by Michael Chaves (‘The Curse of La Llorona’) and not much is known about it. Both Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren are slated to reprise their roles, and early rumors have them not investigating a haunted house but instead looking into a man who is on trial for murder. The man’s defense is that he ended up being possessed by a demon which is where The Warrens get involved.

Having to prove someone is possessed by a demon seems like a bit of a stretch on getting them off the hook for murder.

Are you looking forward to ‘The Conjuring 3’? Do you think that the main difference will be that it has to do with a possessed over a location? Have you been enjoying this new franchise which James Wan is responsible for? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

We’ll next see Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren in ‘Annabelle 3’ which is slated to be released on July 3rd, 2019!
