Ghostbusters

Though the first trailer was met with some very mixed reactions earlier this month, Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ has been dealing with criticisms since the project was announced. But the new squad of paranormal protectors are fully equipped to handle any sort of threat that comes their way, be it from detractors of the film or angry apparitions around New York City. They definitely make this fact known in the latest still from the movie.

In the upcoming issue of Empire Magazine, we’ll get to see a new look at the kick-ass ladies of Feig’s divisive reboot. Taken from a scene where the team of Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) are busting ghosts at a concert, we get to see the new proton packs in action as they try to subdue some kind of winged demon. You can see the picture below, followed by the film’s synopsis:

GHOSTBUSTERS

Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!

Along with the picture, the director also spoke about his ladies getting in there and actually fighting ghosts as much as possible. After getting the action movie bug following his work on ‘Spy’, Feig wanted to continue that streak with ‘Ghostbusters’ and hopes to surprise the seriously cynical audience awaiting this film’s premiere:

“I wanted my ladies to be badass. I wanted them to get in over their heads and fight ghosts. I like the idea of them having to enter a giant setting and take on ghosts… It makes it fun and very unexpected for people when they hear it’s four lady Ghostbusters. It may be quite different than what they think.”

What do you think about the newest image from Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’? Are you excited to check out this long-awaited film? And do you think that the uppity fans claiming ruined childhoods will be proven wrong this summer? Sound off in the comments.

‘Ghostbusters’ starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Chris Hemsworth hits theaters on July 15, 2016.
