Post Malone has supplied the theme song to the new animated movie ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’. The new single, ‘Sunflower’ also features vocals by Swae Lee.
The new lyric video for ‘Sunflower’ doesn’t contain any live action. Rather it uses footage from the movie– including a lot that has never been seen before– will weaving in the lyrics to the song. The footage included tends to be sort of low-key. Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is shown at home, with his parents Jefferson Davis (Brian Tyree Henry) and Rio Morales (Luna Lauren Velez), at school, where he nervously chats with a pretty girl, who may be his universe’s version of Gwen Stacy, and otherwise making his way around his Brooklyn neighborhood.

It’s unknown if there are plans to release another music video that actually features Malone and Lee.
It’s a little odd that the movie didn’t feature a song by its star, Shameik Moore, who has also released music, collaborating with Pharrell Williams for the soundtrack to his 2015 movie ‘Dope’. But, then again, Post Malone is really hot right now, and since this flick is aimed at a younger audience than the live action Marvel movies, maybe they wanted an artist that is already popular with that demographic.
‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ also stars Jake Johnson (‘The New Girl’, ‘Tag’) as Peter Parker– apparently a slightly jaded, weary Peter from another dimension, as well as Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, John Mulaney as Spider-Ham, and Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker, who pilots the mecha, SP//dr. Liev Schreiber voices the film’s villain, The Kingpin, while Mahershala Ali portray’s Miles’ uncle, Aaron Davis, who may or may not appear in his super criminal guise as The Prowler. Lily Tomlin also contributes as Aunt May Parker.
‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, swings into theaters on December 14.
