The CW just can’t help but continue to drop Batman connections as they prepare to introduce us to Ruby Rose’s take on Batwoman. Now they’ve announced that Cassandra Jean Amell (‘Mad Men’,’One Tree Hill’) is set to play Nora Fries during this year’s Arrowverse crossover. For those who aren’t particularly familiar with that character, you’ve usually seen her on ice, frozen that is. Fries is the last name of Mr. Freeze, and Nora is his wife who is kept frozen while he tries to find a cure for the disease which is about to end her life. We’re not going to claim nepotism here, but it probably didn’t hurt for her to snag the role with her husband Stephen Amell playing Oliver Queen on ‘Arrow.’
While Nora Fries was introduced in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ and started out as being frozen, she has later shown up in a variety of comics as well and eventually evolved into the villain Lazara. She ends up going up against Mr. Freeze who has to put her back on ice as her resurrection left her genuinely evil.
It isn’t clear if the Nora Fries we see in the crossover will follow that route, is sick and dying, if she’s been cured, or if the series will be taking liberties with the character. What we do know is that she’ll be joining another newcomer, Elizabeth Tulloch, who is set to play the part of Lois Lane in at least one episode of this three-night crossover series.
The upcoming event will occur on ‘The Flash’ on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 at 8 PM, ‘Arrow’ on December 10th at 8 PM, and finally on ‘Supergirl’ on December 11th, 2018. It isn’t clear at this time if Amell’s take on Nora Fries will appear in each of these episodes or not.
