If you were hoping that Warner Bros. was planning on having actor Ray Fisher revisit his role from ‘Justice League’ in a solo ‘Cyborg‘ movie soon you might want to think again. The actor hasn’t cast any doubts that the movie will still happen but his estimation of the budget might need you to lower your expectations of it going into production. The cost he is estimating is due to the high level of CGI which would be needed for his character and any villains in the film.

When you stack up this cost compared to the other DC movies out there, if it is accurate it could endanger pre-production from ever beginning.

Here is what Fisher had to say about what he felt it would cost to make ‘Cyborg’:

“There’s a ton of people making those kind of decisions behind the scenes. And it would be a very, very costly movie to make because it is so CGI heavy with Cyborg because I’m the only member of the League that’s not in a practical costume. You’re going to be looking at $200 million just to make it. So it’s one of those things you have to take into consideration. It’s a numbers game for some people at the end of the day.”

Looking back at the franchise to date, ‘Man of Steel’ which was a flagship film had a $225 million budget. ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ had a budget that ranged from $250-300 million. ‘Justice League’ which finally introduced all of the characters had a budget of $300 million for an ensemble film. The first ‘Wonder Woman’ had a budget of $120 and $150 million. ‘Suicide Squad’ was another group piece that had $175 million to play with. Finally, the upcoming release of ‘Aquaman’ which is another stand alone in the same style this would be made is said to cost $160 million.

Warner Bros. hasn’t been too open as to their current production slate after ‘Justice League’ wasn’t the blockbuster which they were hoping for and with a cost here that could exceed the other standalone movies it may put the production further in jeopardy. The original date for ‘Cyborg’ had been scheduled to be April 3rd, 2020 but as we’re not hearing any progress on the movie going into pre-production I don’t think we’re going to be hitting that mark.

In fact, with no DC films officially being announced after ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ and Cyborg set to be included in ‘Doom Patrol‘ on DC Universe, things aren’t looking good for Victor Stone getting his own feature film.

Do you feel that ‘Cyborg’ would cost at least $200 million to make? Will the studio be willing to shell that out for a spinoff when the rest of the franchise has been struggling so far? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
