Blumhouse is likely going to hit it big this October by bringing us a soft reboot of ‘Halloween‘ that is being described as the best installment in the franchise since the original and that has many wondering if the production company could be eyeing other classics as well. It seems that is the case as Jason Blum has shared an interest in both the ‘Scream’ and ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ franchises! However, just because he’d be open to either one doesn’t mean that they’re in the works at this time. When asked about them, Blum shared that he “would like to do both of” these movies.

Don’t hold your breath though as there is “a rights situation with all those movies” and legally it’s “very tangled and very complicated.”

While Blum has proven time and time again that his production company knows how to handle horror, “It’s one thing to say you want to do them and it’s a whole other thing to get to actually do it.” Let’s take the upcoming film that will likely be a smash hit at the box office, “Halloween was in the works … for four or five years before it evolved, so, there are business obstacles to cross.”

This isn’t the first time these two titles have hit Blum’s radar as he’s been asked about them both on Twitter in the past:

With all of this wishful thinking in mind, Jason Blum has never once stated that he is even trying to get the rights to either of these franchises.

Would you love to see ‘Blumhouse’ re-visit ‘Scream’ or ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’? Do you feel that these would work better as reboots or continuations of the original films? Which do you think would be more fitting for the style of cinema that Blumhouse is known for? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
