Keiynan Lonsdale‘s Wally West shuffled off from ‘The Flash”s Central City to join the crew of the Waverider on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’. But that turned out to be a short stay, as Lonsdale, who came out as queer in 2017 and went on to find success in the film ‘Love, Simon’, announced that he was leaving the Arrowverse shows in June of this year, but promised to return when Kid Flash was needed.
As he stated at the time, “I’ve changed a lot in the past year (as you’ve probably noticed lol), and for infinite reasons, my perspective on life & what I want from it now is just completely different. Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I’m so damn grateful to both shows for honoring & respecting that with me.”
Fans won’t have to wait long for his return. Lonsdale will return for three episodes of ‘The Flash”s upcoming fifth season, including the season premiere. While no details were spilled, Wally was present at the end of the Season Four finale, having come back for the birth of Joe and Cecile’s baby and when Jessica Parker Kennedy‘s Nora West Allen revealed that she was Barry and Iris’ daughter from the future. Provided the new season picks up where the last left off, Wally could still be present as Team Flash reacts to this revelation.
A large chunk of the promotion for the new season has centered on Nora and her mysterious past, including a huge mistake that she made involving time travel. Somehow, Iris is at the center of this, but viewers won’t find out how until the new episodes roll out.
‘The Flash’ Season Five premiere will air on Tuesday, October 9th, at 8pm EST.
