The mid-credit scene for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ is an important one and to talk about it we fully need to dive into the deep end of spoiler territory. If you’ve seen the film, please feel free to continue, but if you haven’t, this is one post you might want to skip until you’ve had a chance to watch it. The clip was short but very impactful in both the movie an setting up future plot points.

So, this is your last warning to turn back now!

You’re still with me, so that means you either don’t care about having the scene spoiled or you’ve already seen the movie. Either way, we’re talking entirely about an ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ tie-in. Yes, that point where we saw Ant-Man back in the Quantum Realm, and suddenly the three Pyms were all taken by the snap of Thanos‘ fingers. With these heroes on the run and likely still in California, it makes sense that they wouldn’t be around to help out either set of Avengers against the Mad Titan and it likely sets up where we’ll see Ant-Man in ‘Avengers 4.’

But how did it all come together and end up tying in with ‘Infinity War’? From the way director Peyton Reed tells it, it was a joint collaboration:

“What we didn’t necessarily know was how we were going to deal with it. Do we glimpse TV monitors and TV reports of stuff going on in other parts of the world? That stuff seemed kind of lame and obvious. We’ve seen that in other movies. It didn’t feel particularly inspired.

I think that Markus and McFeely did the first crack at that scene, just conceptually. They set up these elements, and we refined it with our writers’ room…It felt like our movie’s very particular way of dealing with that scene.”

It did feel as if it was written by the creators of ‘Ant-Man’ but was also tied directly into ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ so clearly the two teams brought their idea together pretty perfectly.

Do you feel that ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ had the perfect tie-in to ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ without it taking away from the movie? Are you glad that Thanos snapping his fingers happened at the end of this outing? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
