Thanos

We already know that a home edition of ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ will include cut scenes but have just learned that an extended Thanos cut of the film might be coming! Jon Schnepp of Collider recently sat down at a panel with Jim Starlin who created the character and found out some amazing tidbits.

The first clue which hinted at a Thanos version is that a lengthy section of ‘Infinity War’ that expanded the backstory of Thanos had to be cut due to the length of the fil. As Schnepp explained

“[Some time] before the movie actually came out, they called him and were like ‘Hey, look. We’re sorry to tell you; we have to cut out a lot of the Thanos backstory. We’re cutting out like thirty minutes of Thanos’ backstory, his origin, and him as a youth and things that he did. We can’t fit all of it into the movie. We already have like a two-and-a-half hour film.”

We already were able to get hints at what made Thanos who he is but to see an expanded version of why the universe feared him even before snapping his fingers and wiping out half of it could be fantastic.

But the true reason it sounds like a Thanos version it will happen is what Schnepp said next:

“It’s completed, and Jim Starlin said he found out that they’re actually going to put it into a special edition of Avengers: Infinity War, …The way he was saying it is there weren’t going to be seen as deleted scenes, they were actually going to be reintegrated into the film to make a special edition. So that’s what Jim said. I’m not 100% sure; I’d love to know from Marvel or Kevin Feige or the Russos.”

While Starlin can’t speak for Marvel Studios, if anyone who might know if a Thanos ‘Infinity War’ would happen it would undoubtedly be the creator of Thanos, Gamora, and the Infinity Gauntlet.
