Keiynan Lonsdale started out as Wally West on ‘The Flash’ before gaining his own super speed powers and becoming Kid Flash.  Unfortunately, as the show developed, Wally got a little lost in the mix.  The decision was made last season to shift him over to ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ which was losing a few cast members.  It looked as though he had a new permanent home.  Then yesterday, news emerged that Lonsdale would not be a series regular on the upcoming fourth season of ‘Legends’.

Lonsdale took to Twitter to share a message to his fans and assured that though he is no longer full time on The CW shows, he will be there when they need Kid Flash:

Here is his message in full:

Yo! Soo as a lot of you have now read, I’m not returning next season as a series regular for The Flash or Legends. It’s definitely not a total goodbye or “see ya never” situation, cause Wally West will still be round when you need him the most! It’s just that it won’t be full time anymore.

I’ve changed a lot in the past year (as you’ve probably noticed lol), and for infinite reasons my perspective on life & what I want from it now is just completely different. Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I’m so damn grateful to both shows for honoring & respecting that with me.

I love Kid Flash, I love the family I’ve made, & I’m absolutely in love with the invaluable lessons I’ve learnt along the way. Thank you for believing in me & rooting for Wally to thrive, you honestly helped me see that I did indeed deserve to play him, & that shit right there made me a stronger actor.

Anyway, I hope you stick around for the new adventures, the only thing I can promise is Magic.

Much like ‘Arrow”s Colton Haynes before him, Lonsdale has been a journey of self-discovery in recent years.  In 2017, he came out as “bisexual” only to later state that he does not wish to label his sexuality and chooses to identify as “queer.”  He then went on to star in the Arrowverse’s creator Greg Berlanti’s gay teen coming out movie ‘Love, Simon’.  (He and costar Nick Robinson are nominated for “Best Kiss” at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.)  He has also released a new song entitled ‘Kiss the Boy’.  And if you’ve paid any attention to his personal life, you may have noticed that he has been experimenting quite a bit with his appearance, first straightening then dying his hair blond and wearing more flamboyant clothes.  When Haynes came out as gay in the press, he also departed ‘Arrow’ to spend time focusing on his own welfare and Lonsdale is likely doing the same.

Best of luck to Keiynan and here’s hoping his time away from Central City/the time stream is brief but beneficial!
