The highly anticipated ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ will pit Marvel’s star-spangled Avenger against a slew of new foes, including obviously The Winter Soldier, as well as Batroc the Leaper and Crossbones, played by Frank Grillo.  Grillo recently spoke about joining Marvel’s billion-dollar super hero franchise, stating, “For any actor, it’s huge and you really get an understanding of that when you see guys like [Robert] Redford show up to do a role. What’s happening now is I think since all the Marvel movies had such a wide range of viewers globally that you’d be crazy not to want to be involved on some level with the Marvel people. They do it like nobody else. For me it’s a great opportunity because it’s an international film. It just raises your exposure that much more.”

But could Crossbones show up later?  Grillo teased a bit, but was careful not to give too much away, as “Marvel would fire me.”  But he did state, “It’s an origin film. You meet people who are going to be around for a while, so they introduce the characters. It’s almost like it’s a series. It’s fun. I can’t say very much about it because Marvel’s very strict about what you’re allowed to say. The movie, we’ve seen bits of it, and it is spectacular.”

He added, “We’ll see if the fans respond to Brock [Rumlow] and how it goes.”

So does Marvel have further plans for Crossbones?  Or is the actor simply lobbying for a return appearance?

Crossbones is a relatively newer character, making his debut in 1989 (I know, technically that was kind of a long time ago, but keep in mind that Cap made his debut in 1941!), but has managed to endure as a recurring menace for the hero.

What do you think?  Would you like to see Crossbones return to plague Cap or possibly even The Avengers?
