Déjà vu!  Last year, speculation swirled when it was announced that Tiffany Espensen‘s character in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ would be named Cindy.  Some figured that she might be the comic book character Cindy Moon, known as the adventurer Silk.  In the comics, Cindy was present during the same field trip as Peter Parker and was bitten by the same radioactive spider, but was taken and hidden away in a secret bunker for years, until Spider-Man freed her.

Of course, in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, Cindy was just one of Peter’s classmates and no special attention was paid to her.  Her last name wasn’t even given.  But now it seems that there may still be a chance that Silk could make her presence known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At the very least, it appears that Espensen’s Cindy will make another film appearance in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.  ‘Infinity War’ has been added to Espensen’s IMDB page, although she is once again listed simply as “Cindy,” no last name or alias.  IMDB posted a video via their Twitter page, with the teasing line “Stay tuned.”

Does IMDB know more than they are letting on?  Or is this simply another round of speculation about a character that is basically a generic classmate of Peter’s?

It’s possible that Cindy will become Silk, but it’s somewhat unlikely.  Evangeline Lily‘s debut as The Wasp was kept out of ‘Infinity War’ so that her premiere in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ would resonate more than it would in such a crowded ensemble.  The same holds true for Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.  Her debut will occur in her own film, due in 2019.  Even without these two, the film already features all of the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Loki, Black Panther and Doctor Strange.

If Sony or Marvel wants to introduce Silk, it’s more likely that they’ll save it for a ‘Spider-Man’ movie.  That’s taking for granted that this is even a plan that either studio has in place.  Of Spidey’s female contemporaries, Silk is one of the most recent introductions.  Silver Sable and Black Cat have been around for decades and are just now getting their own movie, ‘Silver & Black’ also due in 2019.  But anything is possible.

Do you want to see Tiffany Espensen’s Cindy become Silk in the movies?  Do you think she’ll fit into ‘Avengers: Infinity War’?
