With ‘Wonder Woman‘ being set during World War I you might be wondering how it could relate to the ‘Justice League’ film. Don’t worry as Gal Gadot has you covered. The actress hasn’t outright given any spoilers here but paints a few broad strokes of how both movies will be related to one another.

We already know why she feels that her role is important for films in general but for the upcoming franchise installment? Here is what she had to say:

“When I just started, the first time I played Wonder Woman, was on Batman v Superman, and it was current day, so I got to play the ‘end result’ of who Wonder Woman is, and I was very curious to understand and really go through who she is and how she became Wonder Woman. And finally on Wonder Woman we had the chance to go and dig deep, and really establish this beautiful character.”

A lot of the reason her acting here will be important is to make her more relatable to the audiences and not just an amazing Amazon warrior:

“It was really important for Patty and me that this character will be relatable. And I think the fact that she’s the most powerful warrior, but she can also be vulnerable, and she can be confident but confused; blunt, but curious.

There’s so many different qualities to her character that makes her not perfect and easier for us to relate. She’s still Diana, but nowadays she’s wiser and more educated about the complexities of life and the world and mankind. But she’s always full of compassion and warmth and love for everyone.”

It looks like her characterization in the upcoming film will be important for how we perceive Princess Diana going forward in the DCEU and I think if the early previews have captured the spirit of the movie then we’re going to be in for a fun film!

Are you looking forward to ‘Wonder Woman’? Do you feel that her past will solidify how she acts in the future and make audiences enjoy her character even more? Share your thoughts below!

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

‘Wonder Woman’ was directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Ewen Bremner, David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Florence Kasumba, Doutzen Kroes, Eleanor Matsuura, Saïd Taghmaoui, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Samantha Jo and Eugene Brave Rock. The script was written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, based on a story by Heinberg and Zack Snyder. It will be released on June 2, 2017.
