Margot Robbie Reveals 'Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)' Is Told From Harley's View

The early previews and details have hinted that ‘Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)‘ is going to be another team film like ‘Suicide Squad’ that would include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead‘s Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell‘s Black Canary, and Rosie Perez’s Renee Montoya. Now, it sounds as if this “bonkers” tale will be told from Quinn’s point of view as we see the four work to take down Ewan McGregor’s Roman Sionis and Chris Messina‘s Victor Zsasz in order to save Ella Jay Basco‘s Cassandra “Cass” Cain.

This new detail has come directly from Robbie herself, who has explained that:

“The story in Birds of Prey is told from her point of view, so you have an insight into Harley’s world in a way that you didn’t in the first Suicide Squad film, nor that you’ll have in the next Suicide Squad film. It’s a little bonkers. It reflects her personality. It’s heightened. It’s poppy, it’s fun, it’s violent, it’s crazy. It’s absurd. It’s kooky. It’s hilarious. It’s a little heartbreaking.”

Personally, I feel that embracing Harley Quinn’s twisted view on life might be the perfect way to bring us a comic book film as her entire personality fits with the poppy style of much of the genre.

With Margot Robbie being the only actor in the film who is reprising their role from a previous DC movie, it should come as no surprise that she would be front and center in it, especially with her on-screen charisma. My only thought is that the marketing material so far has not been shining a spotlight on this, and that might be something the marketing department should consider changing before the movie gets too much closer to release.
