Outside of a brilliant tribute to Carrie Fisher, one of the highlights of this week’s Vanity Fair is that we’re finally getting some solid details on the characters which Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro will be playing in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘. We’ve heard a bit about both of them in the past, but this could be the most solid set of information we’ve had a chance to check out so far!

First up we’ll take a look at Laura Dern’s Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. She has now been described as a “prominent officer in the Resistance, ” and we’ve heard many rumors that she’ll play a partial antagonist in the film, at the very least to Carrie Fisher’s character as she seems to want her position and disagrees with her tactics.

Secondly, we don’t have much news in the way of Benicio Del Toro‘s DJ. In fact, it still isn’t a confirmed name and only seems to be what the cast and crew are calling him. He looks as if he stepped out of a bar that Han Solo would frequent and is likely a smuggler or some other illicit character.

Past these two? We’ve learned that Veronica Ngo’s Paige will be a young pilot who Poe Dameron is training. Not only that, but Paige might factor in even more as they reveal she is the sister to the character to Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico. Family is always an important concept in the ‘Star Wars’ galaxy so expect this to have some impact down the line.

While vague, we’ve also learned that Domnhall Gleeson’s General Hux will have a scene that has him yelling orders on the bridge of a First Order starship. As we know that Finn is rumored to sneak aboard just such a ship in the film, I would suspect that these two scenes are connected.
