Marvel mutant series ‘The Gifted,’ billed as a “non X-Men adventure drama,” has received a series order from Fox, according to info released by EW.  We’re not sure why there’s such a need to call it “non X-Men,” because fans of Marvel’s X-series will see much that they recognize from this show.

It starts at the top – literally.  Longtime ‘X-Men’ film director Bryan Singer directed the pilot episode, and he will also executive produce the series alongside fellow X-types Jeph Loeb, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Winberg, and Jim Chory.  The cast list contains plenty of character names that X-Men comic fans will recognize, including Blink, Eclipse, Polaris, and Thunderbird.

Take a look-see at the teaser trailer, with the full trailer to come very soon:

Marvel is certainly working to lock up the TV side of the entertainment spectrum, as it now currently has and/or has in production televised series on streaming, cable, and network surrounding their properties of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, The Defenders, Iron Fist, Legion, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inhumans, Cloak & Dagger, The New Warriors, and Runaways.

Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.  Written by Matt Nix (APB, “Burn Notice”), directed by Bryan Singer (the “X-Men” franchise”) and executive-produced by Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “The Wolverine”), Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”), Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”), the series stars Stephen Moyer (SHOTS FIRED, “True Blood”) and Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”).

‘The Gifted’ will premiere this Fall on Fox.
