We have two new minor pieces of news for fans who can’t get enough of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ before the film’s May release and they involve Kurt Russell (‘Death Proof’,’The Thing’) and Michael Rooker (‘The Walking Dead’,’Jumper’)! We already know that Rooker will be reprising his role as Yondu, or Star-Lord’s friend and adoptive father from the first ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ while Russell is set to play Ego the Living Planet who appears to be Star-Lord’s actual father unless director James Gunn has been trolling us all though now have new details of each.
Both of these might be considered spoilers so I’ll give you a moment to turn back now if you’d like:
We don’t know much about how the cinematic iteration of Ego the Living Planet is going to stack up quite yet, and his first look had been through an early shot of his toy. Toys seem to be the major spoilers for films these days, and now packaging for said toy gives us an even better look at Russell which you can see right here:
So I’m still not sure how the whole Ego the Living Planet portion is going to play out here. Does he have an Avatar he remotely controls or does he, in fact, turn from a planet into a humanoid? We’ll be finding out in a few months.
Next up on the spoiler details is from Michael Rooker’s Instagram feed. While he might just be rocking some swag that Marvel Studios gave him, my money is it is from him being part of the cast of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and not because he was randomly in Georgia hanging out on set.
Now, at this time Rooker hasn’t officially been announecd as being part of the cast so while on some set for an unknown movie the others in the pictures had to hide their face and he needed to have tape on his hat:
Early morning in the make up trailer at some location in Atl and yes they made me put the tape on

Yes, I’m sure this isn’t an unofficial announcement or anything. Specially when during the same time frame where ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ is well done filming and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is in full on production he shared this shot:
While there is no announcement at this time it does look like Yondu has joined the Fricken Guardians of the Galaxy as Baby Groot said in a recent trailer and will be accompanying Star-Lord when things go down against Thanos.
Are you looking forward to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’? Happy to hear that Yondu will survive the events of the film and looks to be joining ‘Avengers: Infinity War’? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
