While we’ve been slowly getting bombarded with teasers, trailers, and clips from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ the studio hasn’t told us what the film has been about, until now. Director James Gunn has shared a brief little snippet of what he feels best describes the overall plot, but he does so in a way that still leaves us wanting more. Not surprising with how secretive the marketing has been so far and how well they’ve done at keeping most of the major details under wraps.

Once again, this is a detail which the studio is teasing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 featurette which had a quiet release right along with ‘Doctor Strange.’

So what does Gunn have to say about his next movie?

“I think the primary story is really about learning that thing that we think we want, that we’re going to get outside of ourselves and outside of these relationships that we have, has been there all along.”

We still don’t know what the movie is going to be all about, but I suspect this does tease that it will be about most of the Guardians secretly looking for a family only to find that they have one in each other. Sappy, yet we do know that Star-Lord is somewhat looking for his father, Gamora has to confront her sister Nebula and deal with the fact that Thanos is their adoptive father, Drax is trying to find revenge for his lost family, Rocket wants to be accepted and not be thought of as a freak while Groot. Okay, Groot is just awesome, but as Baby Groot, he might need his friends and family to help him out until he grows a little.

Do you think that is a valid stab at what Gunn meant for the plot of the film or will we be getting something else entirely different when it comes out? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ directed by James Gunn, starring Chris Pratt, Zoë Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Glenn Close takes off on May 5, 2017.
