punisher

Fans of Jon Bernthal‘s take on Frank Castle are going to be thrilled to learn that the new Punisher series has started filming and we’ve got the working title to share with you today. With the films based on The Punisher all having been box office flops it seemed risky for Netflix to introduce the character’s one man war on crime in the second season of ‘Daredevil’ though the gamble clearly paid off. Fans loved him enough that an entire season was greenlit and ‘The Punisher: Crime’ seems to be a fitting name for his first season.

Not only that but a shot of Bernthal was taken of him on set rocking a beard, dressed in jeans, a black jacket, and combat boots which a backpack over his shoulder that is likely holding part of his never-ending arsenal.

We all were thinking this might have been ramping up production as Bernthal was unable to attend this year’s New York Comic-Con due to being busy with his “Netflix production schedule” and while this still could be just a cameo for ‘Iron Fist’ or Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ it sounds like he’ll be on this set for well over a week with NYCC being this weekend so it seems unlikely that it is just for a small part.

We don’t know much about the upcoming series but it was initially planned to launch in 2018 though with filming already having begun as well as casting in the likes of Ben Barnes as Bobby Saint it seems like it could still feasibly be coming sooner than later.
