Jon-Bernthal-as-the-Punisher-in-Daredevil-Season-2-Episode-13

Even though we all have heard the statements from Netflix saying that they will only be releasing 2 Marvel shows a year (which is why we have to wait for 2018 to get ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2), it seems there is still hope that the company might be changing its tune when it comes to Jon Bernthal and the Punisher. Which makes perfect sense when you have a break-out character that audiences are hungry to see, who has already been established in the world.

So here’s the scoop: Apparently there was a recent Reddit post which displayed a screenshot of the Netflix app page for ‘The Punisher’ that had a tentative release date of 2017, along with a brief synopsis:

After the murder of his family, Frank Castle is both haunted and hunted. In the criminal underworld, he’ll become known as The Punisher.

As always, with random rumors like this nothing should be seen as concrete evidence, especially since no one else has been able to find said page on the Netflix app, though there is a possibility the screenshot was taken in a different region than our own. Of course, for this to be true they would already have to be working on ‘The Punisher,’ or else plan on shooting it concurrently with ‘The Defenders’ (also set to come out in 2017) and so far Netflix has made it perfect clear that they are not interested in doing more than ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘The Defenders’ in 2017.  And while Netflix might just be deliberately misleading us in order to get an exceptionally excited response if they do announce ‘Punisher’ has a 2017 release date, that seems very unnecessary considering all the fans Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle already has.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you think we will actually see ‘The Punisher’ TV series in 2017? Or is this a hoax? Share your opinion in the comments below!
