Through co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, fans of FX’s hit show ‘American Horror Story’ have learned very well by know that answers don’t come easy. Through each of the show’s first five seasons, the theme, setting, and style of storytelling have been different, giving each season a “miniseries” vibe and truly earning the show its “horror anthology” status. With the sixth season set to premiere next month, Murphy and Falchuck are again toying with audience members’ minds – this time enlisting the help of FX in their misdirection.
Fans thought they had the theme of this season all figured out – a few behind-the-scenes pictures and the first promo for the show seemed to indicate that things would be set in the legendary Roanoke colony of the new American colonies, famous for its inhabitants mysteriously disappearing en masse. However, this promo video was followed shortly be another, with a completely different tone and setting… and then another, and another, enough to thoroughly confuse fans. The creative team finally admitted that they were intentionally misdirecting fans, and that their intention was to not release any routine advance information until the show’s televised premiere.
Today brings three more “promos” for the upcoming sixth season. Check them out in all their glory below, along with a statement from FX Networks CEO John Landgraf:
“With the sixth installment… ‘American Horror Story’ has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series. From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show – while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity. This is even more remarkable because Ryan [Murphy] and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful, and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team, or a series, and with every new installment they deliver.”
The sixth season of ‘American Horror Story’ will debut September 14th on the FX Network.
Tony Schaab mixed up all this fake puke at home and then he went to this movie theater, hid the puke in his jacket, climbed up to the balcony, and then he made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa… and then he dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then – this was horrible – all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other… and he never felt so bad in his entire life! A lover of most things sci-fi and horror, Tony is an author by day and a DJ by night.
