While we know that Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller will be overseeing the ‘Suicide Squad‘ we now know that she’ll be working for what appears to be the Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans or A.R.G.U.S.! While we still haven’t seen the acronym pop up on screen as of yet, director David Ayer has just shared an image on Twitter that all but confirms it. The image doesn’t even spell out the organization’s name directly but there is a logo attached that sure seems to indicate that it exists.
Let’s take a look:

Yes, we’re seeing it say “Non-human Entity Joint Combat Operations” which is clearly a government-sounding organization but it is the logo below that really seems to stand out as that image below sure does look similar to the logo from the comics. No word yet if this NEJCO will be taking the place of A.R.G.U.S., be related to it, or if the triangle is just an Easter Egg but it wouldn’t surprise me if they are overseeing the operation.
In the comics, A.R.G.U.S. was introduced in 2011 in the New 52 and was created to deal with all superheroes. That means while the public face has it being the part of the government that works with the Justice League, it also covers everything else with metahumans as well. They clean up after superheroes, jail the villains, and in this case use some of the villains for covert operations.
The closest comparison would be to S.H.I.E.L.D. in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
Are you excited to see A.R.G.U.S. being hinted at for ‘Suicide Squad’? Do you think they’ll be using the comic version or creating an entirely different take on the concept? Share your thoughts below!
