One thing many Spider-Man fans have been wondering is if we’ll end up seeing J. Jonah Jameson on screen in any of the films in the current ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ franchise. Well, Marc Webb sheds his view on that question in a recent Google Hangout. One thing he does touch upon when answering is how can someone replace J.K. Simmons (‘Terminator: Genesis‘, ‘Dark Skies‘) in the roll that he played so perfectly? My solution? Just recast J.K. and have him in the next few films as well! Sadly I don’t think they will go that route and are in the wrong for not listening to my advice! That also means it sounds like he won’t be popping up in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘. Still how likely it is that we’d see Jameson on the screen?

According to Webb:

“I like the idea very much of him coming up in the next film. It was more easy to accept a new Spider-Man than someone who could out do J.K. Simmons in that role, he is so iconic. That’s something we’ve really talked about. Obviously I love that character because he poses such an interesting dilemma for Spider-Man. The answer is I don’t know, but I think you can expect to see him in the future.”

So it sounds like there is actually a good chance the character will appear in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ and possibly beyond! You can watch the full Hangout with the director below:

Well that is exciting news as Jameson is Spider-Man’s greated public opponent and at the same time is his boss. He makes for such an interesting character in Peter’s life that he just has no way to escape for years.

Who do you think they should cast in the role?

Synopsis:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ hits theaters on May 2, 2014. Andrew Garfield is back as Peter Parker, along with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro, along with Dane DeHann as Harry Osborn. The film also features Sally Field and Chris Cooper.
