‘The Flash’ Season 2 has focused largely on the existence of parallel universes, most notably, Earth-2 which is shaping up to be a bit more sinister than it seemed at first. The last episode ended in quite a cliffhanger, with Barry (Grant Gustin), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Earth-2 Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) still on the dark Earth and there are teases of the next episode in the new trailer that The CW has released, including Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) in action. But there are also teases of additional upcoming episodes, including the previously reported visit to Central City from ‘Arrow”s John Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson) as they take on the returning King Shark (voiced by David Hayter). And we get hints that ‘The Flash’ is inching closer to revealing the true identity of Big Bad Zoom.
There are plenty of fan theories regarding this, from a returned Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher) or Barry’s own father Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp), possibly from another Earth.
One thing is for sure and that is that viewers once considered ‘Arrow’ the darker show, while ‘The Flash’ was definitely lighter. But this season ‘The Flash’ has inched closer to the darker tone of ‘Arrow’, with the threat of Zoom looming.
Watch the new trailer for yourself:
Now that ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ is soaring on its own, ‘The Flash’ can focus on Barry and his friends (and their parallel universe doppelgangers).
In May, look forward to an episode directed by comic fan and occasional writer Kevin Smith. Smith previously directed the pilot for another genre show, ‘Reaper’ in 2007.
