A little over a week ago, we got our first taste of the sixth season of ‘Game of Thrones.’ But rather than sporting the image of a character that survived the events of the previous season like Arya Stark, Tyrion Lannister, or Margaery Tyrell, the poster prominently featured the recently deceased (depending on who you believe) Jon Snow. And now keeping with the theme of seeing people we didn’t think we would see again, the first teaser trailer has been released for the next chapter of the acclaimed HBO fantasy drama continues to feature the various people we’ve lost along the way.

Opening with the phrase “We watch, we listen, we remember”, the first teaser for ‘Game of Thrones’ season six seems to be talking directly to its audience. From there, we get some lingering shots of Kit Harington’s Snow and quick flashes of some of the most shocking moments in the history of the series, which is a nice reminder that no one is safe in Westeros. Then, in the only piece of brand new anything in the whole teaser, Bran Stark can be heard proclaiming, “They have no idea what’s going to happen.” Considering that the show is now working without a net due to the story passing George R.R. Martin’s novels, this statement certainly rings true in more ways than one as neither the long-time fans of the ‘Song of Fire and Ice’ series nor the characters on the show have any inkling as to what’s in store for the future of the Seven Kingdoms.

So what is this really saying to fans? It sounds to me like the network knows that they don’t even have to show off new footage to get their legions of followers excited for the return of ‘Game of Thrones’. It also says that we’re all gluttons for punishment because of all the stuff we’ve suffered through on account of this show. But no matter what you take away from this first teaser, I think that we can all agree that this series can’t return soon enough!

What do you think about the first teaser for ‘Game of Thrones’ season six? Are you excited about what’s in store for your favorite characters next year? And do you think that all this use of Jon Snow adds fuel to fire that he may not be so dead after all? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments.
