The CW’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow‘ is going to be giving us a new portrayal of Hawkgirl and we’re finally getting an idea of how she’ll be introduced on the series. Played by newcomer Ciara Renée (‘The Flash’,’Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’) we’ll see Hawkgirl as one of the heroes who Rip Hunter recruits to defeat Vandal Savage which is the entire purpose of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, or at least its first season. What we’ve learned is that they’ll be using the original mystical version of the character from the comics that sprung from Egyptian mythology and not the alien take on her.

As the show will be dealing with time travel and Hawkgirl and Hawkman being a reincarnations of themselves over long periods of time this could lead to seeing various takes of the couple battling Savage. What Renée suggests though is so much more as she teases what some fans have hoped for with the announcement of Earth 2.

According to Renée:

“We’re definitely doing the reincarnation version. So she used to be an Egyptian priestess and has been reincarnated with Hawkman for centuries. So that’s kind of where we’re going with it. At present, that’s the storyline we’re working on, but I think what’s great is that they’ve created something where they have a lot of possibilities. Like we can go backwards and forwards in time and find all different kinds of Hawkgirls; we also have a different universe in Flash – we have a different world – we brought Earth-2 into it. So I think the possibility to have more of the complicated storylines later on is available.”

That not only gives us an easy way to show Hawkgirl (and Hawkman) in various periods of time but also alternate versions of the duo in ‘The Flash’. We’ll be seeing her official introduction later in Season 2 after the brief appearance in the first season and she’ll also be showing up in ‘The Flash’ and ‘Arrow’ crossover event. Chances are if her powers haven’t emerged by the crossover quite yet that is when we’ll see her wings grow for the first time.

Are you looking forward to ‘Legends of Tomorrow’? Is this the version of Hawkgirl that you prefer they go with? Share your thoughts below!
