Continuing to build excitement for the return of it’s DC television universe, the CW has recently released news of the shows casting Falk Hentschel (‘Transcendence,’ ‘White House Down’) to play Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, soulmate of Hawkgirl and super-hero in his own right. And this is not Hentschel’s first foray into the world of comic-book television, having recently played mercenary Marcus Scarlotti during the second season of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..’

According to the rumors we have heard, it seems Hawkman will cameo in a cross-over episode on both ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash,’ before making his way over to ‘Legend’s of Tomorrow,’ where he will have a substantial role to play, which may be early indications that the character might become a series regular. It is an interesting strategy the CW is utilizing, as with the current structure, even if an audience member grows tired of the plot of one of the shows, they would have to keep watching in order to stay abreast of all the goings-on in the CW DC Universe., For example, if someone was no longer watching ‘Arrow,’ they would miss the introduction of Hawkman into the universe, and see only one half of the cross-over event that introduces Hawkman to both the Arrow and the Flash.

According to the information released so far about Hawkman, he will indeed be the soulmate to Kendra Saunders (aka Hawkgirl), both of whom “can access the powers of the Hawk God, Horus” which is how they are able to grow wings out of their backs and become their super-powered alter-egos. Yet while Hawkgirl will not be able to recall her 5000 years of lives and reincarnations, it seems that Hawkman will be fully aware of his long history and past lives, recognizing his love Hawkgirl though she has no idea who he is at first.

What are your thoughts in having both Hawkgirl and Hawkman in the CW DC Universe? Do you think he will become a series regular on ‘Legends of Tomorrow?” Share your comments below!
