While things still seem up in the air with the second ‘Star Wars Anthology’ film after director Josh Trank departed the project, everything is on the up and up for ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’. After getting it’s first logline at Star Wars Celebration, more incredible talent was added to cast alongside Felicity Jones. So far, we have Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn joining the Academy Award nominee in the film, but now another big name star has just joined the first ‘Star Wars’ spinoff.

According to Variety, veteran actor Forest Whitaker is the latest star to join Gareth Edwards’ upcoming ‘Star Wars Anthology’ movie that finds a rogue band of resistance fighters uniting to steal the plans for Death Star. Before venturing off into a galaxy far, far away to appear in the film that will take place between the prequel and original trilogies, Whitaker is currently filming sci-fi drama ‘The Story of Your Life’ with Amy Adams.

The iconic actor has played a number of memorable roles throughout his career in films like ‘Good Morning, Vietnam,’ ‘Bloodsport,’ ‘The Last King of Scotland,’ and ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler,’ however, it’s currently uncertain who Whitaker will play in ‘Rogue One’ or what side of the rebellion he’ll be on. Will he join Jones on the side of the rebels or might he be aligned with Ahmed and Luna’s reportedly Alliance fighters? Time will tell, but I have a feeling that Whitaker could play some sort of high ranking official on either side.
