Just like your mother used to make, it’s a brand new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! Spring is in full swing and there are lots of cool new collectibles to be found amongst the toy aisles! Besides even those, there’s plenty of great new stuff being announced every day! Hot Toys War Machine Gears Up
While he sat out the first major team film from Marvel, it looks as though Iron Man’s best friend James Rhoades will be suiting up as War Machine in this summer’s upcoming ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘! The last time we saw Rhoady, he was decked out in the red-white-and-blue as ‘The Iron Patriot’ in ‘Iron Man 3’. Now he’s ‘back in black’, or rather silver, as his original armored hero War Machine. This all new Hot Toys War Machine Mark II figure is decked out with all the fancy trimmings we’ve come to expect form Hot Toys! He’s got a highly detailed facial sculpt designed to resemble actor Don Cheadle, as well as a few sets of extra hands, LED light up functionality, a shoulder mounted machine gun, and a special figure stand! What’s even cooler, is that this figure is partially made of diecast metal, so he’s got a really metallic weight and look to him! Check out the release from Hot Toys below:
The much awaited sequel, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, will be hitting the theatres very soon! In anticipation of the launch of this epic blockbuster, Hot Toys is excited to present the new 1/6th scale War Machine Mark II Collectible Figure as a Hot Toys Exclusive item! It is also the latest addition to our MMS Diecast Series which the collectible figures are made of diecast material, and realistically designed to look even more like the armor as it appears in the film.
The movie-accurate War Machine Mark II Collectible Figure is crafted with great details and based on the image of Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine Mark II in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Marvel Universe Is Expanding
Well, at least by one more wave anyway! Hasbro’s popular ‘Marvel Universe Infinite Series’ is growing with six new figures in an all new sixth wave! The team over at MarvelousNews has released some all new images of the wave, showcasing the character selection we’ll be seeing this time around. This new wave is comprised of 90’s Armored Daredevil, Doctor Octopus, Shanna The She Devil, Thunderstrike, Vulture, and Ultimate Spiderman Miles Morales!
YO JOE! Hasbro Is Bringing Back G.I.Joe!
After months of being left in the dark as to the fate of the iconic toyline, G.I.Joe Fans around the world breathed a sigh of relief as Hasbro has announced a ton of cool new G.I.Joe products this week during Joe Con in Springfield, IL. Gentle Giant Super Sizes Your Childhood
We first talked about these guys a few weeks ago during Toy Fair 2015, but Gentle Giant has recently posted pre-order listings for some of their new Super Sized 1:6th Scale Retro figures! While we’ve been seeing their jumbo 1:6th scale figures based on the classic ‘Star Wars’ figures of the 1980’s for the last few years, now we’re getting our first glimpse of their two new lines based on popular DC Comics toylines like ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ and ‘The Superpowers Collection’! In the fall of 1992, a new animated series debuted from Warner Bros. Animation on weekday afternoons. It would go on to leave a lasting impact on one of DC’s most enduring franchises. Based on digital scans of the original 1993 Kenner 5” action figure, this Jumbo figure stands 12” tall in 1/6 scale. Every detail is meticulously re-created from the original figure, capturing perfectly the design aesthetic and tone of the series embodied in the Clown Prince of Crime! In 1984, Kenner began to release the next on their extremely popular action figure lines, the DC Super Powers Collection! This line included heroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and many, many more. Gentle Giant Ltd. is proud to announce the Wonder Woman Jumbo Figure as the first of this stunning line of retro figures. This Wonder Woman Jumbo figure was developed using state of the art 3D technology. Gentle Giant Ltd. has taken the original DC Super Powers Wonder Woman and created a highly accurate digital model with the use of 3D scanners. This digital model was then scaled to 12 inches tall, and then printed using top of the line 3D Systems printers. These pieces are then used in manufacturing to produce extremely accurate, scaled replicas. The DC Super Powers Collection Jumbo Figures from Gentle Giant Ltd. will be made from high quality vinyl, and some ABS plastic parts. Many of the figures will also include fabric capes and accessories. Finally, these incredible figures will feature retro art packaging, and come in a protective re-sealable blister pack.
Both of these figures are expected to hit in the First Quarter of 2016 with suggested retail price of $90 each.
Well, He DID Say He Would Be Back…
With an all new ‘Terminator‘ film coming our way in just a few months, it’s no big surprise to see the team at NECA hard at work on a ton of cool new products for the film! This week NECA gave fans a closer look at the first tow figures in their all new ‘Terminator: Genisys‘ line! Check out their two new figures of the T-800 and T-100 below!
We’re extremely excited to reveal the first images of our action figures for the upcoming sci-fi movie Terminator: Genisys! The new assortment for the Skydance Productions feature will include the Guardian T-800 and the T-1000, both with amazing articulation and awesome accessories. Additional figures are also in development!
From the hotly anticipated Terminator: Genisys, coming to theaters in July 2015! These 7” scale action figures include main characters from the upcoming movie that promises to “Reset the Future.” Assortment includes Guardian T-800 and T-1000 figures. Both figures are all new and completely accurate to the new movie designs, with over 25 points of articulation for great poses.
The older Guardian T-800 is sculpted with the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and comes with Remington shotgun accessory. The T-1000 figure features the likeness of Byung-hun Lee and comes with interchangeable battle-damaged parts, plus revolver and “arm spear” accessories.
“You Were Fantastic”- And So Are These!
We talked about Titan Merchandise’s upcoming ‘Fantastic’ series of ‘Doctor Who‘ Blind Box vinyl figures a few weeks ago when a blurry teaser image was posted online, but now we’re got a clear look at the new wave’s lineup of figures thanks to our friends over at PopVinyls.com!
The new wave of figures is set to be made up of The Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Captain Jack Harkness, Mickey Smith, Adam, The Empty child, The Slitheen, Auton, Cassandra, The Editor, and what appears to be a clear plastic Tardis figure! It’s worth noting that there is a variant Ninth Doctor with glowy eyes as seen in the characters final appearance. This new series is expected to hit sometime around the years end.

Yes, MORE Avengers…
Funko has recently announced the addition of Scarlet Witch to their ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ series of POP! Vinyl figures! Scarlet Witch is set to release in August, with many assuming a few other characters from the film that have yet to be announced as of yet. Many people are assuming we’ll be getting Quicksilver, and possibly a few others depending on who else shows up in the upcoming film!
The Phantom Of The POP!era
First, I need to apologize for that terrible pun headline. It was bad, and you all deserve better. Secondly, check out this new POP! Vinyl figure of the classic pulp comics hero ‘The Phantom’! The team over at PopVinyls uncovered this one, and it looks to be a great new addition to the POP! Heroes line! There is currently no set release date for this figure.
