Clive Barker (‘Hellraiser‘,’Candyman’) is one of the biggest names in horror and a new contest with Project Greenlight Digital Studios is giving one horror filmmaker a chance to work with him! This “Reel Fear” contest launches this month and the price is both a $300,000 budget and a chance to have Barker help mentor the winner through the production of the film. Project Greenlight Digital Studios is a collaboration between AMC’s Shudder and Adaptive Studios so there is quite a bit of talent behind it.

To enter the contest you have from February 13th, 2017 to March 17th, 2017 where you will need to upload a 1 to 3-minute pitch at ProjectGreenLight.com of your horror film. Ten finalists will be chosen and go before a judging panel. At this point, they will be reviewed online and the audience will choose one finalist with the judges deciding on the other four. These five finalists will get initial funding to shoot a short scene for the film to let us know what they can do! In June, they will all end up at Shudder Labs, which is a creative retreat and get advice on how their scenes can be enhanced. After this, one winner will be chosen and Barker will be on board as an Executive Producer.

According to Barker:

“When I was looking for financing while making Hellraiser, I wish there was a studio like Project Greenlight Digital Studios behind me. Teaming up with Adaptive Studios and Shudder is a wonderful opportunity to support emerging filmmakers in finding the new horror icon. This is also a great chance to scare and entertain audiences at the same time.”

This isn’t just a true treat for whichever filmmaker gets a shot at working with an icon like Barker but till give them the opportunity to truly show off their directing chops and possibly realize their dream of making feature films full time.

Are you looking forward to seeing what Barker will get to work on here? What are your thoughts on such an amazing contest for one lucky filmmaker? Share your thoughts below!
