Ryan Murphy’s upcoming season of ‘American Horror Story‘ will have at least one familiar face as Sarah Paulson (‘Serenity’,’The Spirit’) will be officially joining the cast of ‘American Horror Story: Hotel.’ While we of course still know next to nothing about the plot past that the name, showrunner Ryan Murphy did tease that Paulson will end up being “the baddest bad girl of them all” which has me excited to see her in a darker role. With each year’s central story line varying so greatly from the last, I’m curious as to exactly how this upcoming season will tie in with the previous ones while still being “very different” from what we’ve seen before.

Murphy of course as usual made the official announcement on Twitter:

We also found out recently that she’ll be joining a returning star as Kathy Bates has a very special role of her own:

So it’ll be interesting to see if Paulson is a guest of Kathy’s character or one of her employees. When you factor in that Lady Gaga has the lead role it makes me wonder if the show will be more about the guests or the staff.

Also returning are Wes Bentley and Chloe Sevigny They’ll be joined by newcomers Matt Bomer, Lady Gaga, and Cheyenne Jackson. Again we’ll sadly not be seeing Jessica Lange returning to the series.

Are you looking forward to another fun filled season of ‘American Horror Story’? Do you think the hotel concept provides room for a completely new story line or are you going to be making ‘Bates Motel’ comparisons all season long? Share your thoughts below!

‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ begins airing on FX in October 2015.
