It’s always a treat when directors take to social media and give teasers about the projects they are working on. J.J Abrams has teased fans with images from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ as well as Bryan Singer for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’ Another director has done the same for the past year, but this one has to be hands down one of the best reveals yet!

Zack Snyder is no stranger when it comes to giving fans a first look at the characters in his upcoming ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film. First he revealed Ben Affleck dressed as Batman, then revealed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. He even gave fans a good look at the new suit for Henry Cavill’s Superman. Now, via Twitter, he reveals the look of another superhero: Jason Momoa as Aquaman!

While the outfit does deviate from the comic book version of Aquaman (much like Gadot’s Wonder Woman suit), it does keep with the realistic gritty look that Warner Bros seems to like for their DC cinematic universe. It also looks like Momoa won’t be sporting a full head of blond hair, but instead will have highlights which really seems to work in his favor in this photo. The armor plating and tribal ink adds to the fierceness of Momoa’s look and clearly gives an interpretation worthy of one to be called the King of Atlantis, hence Snyder’s caption “There is only one true King.”

Also worth noticing is the hashtag #unitetheseven. It’s already known that after finishing with ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Snyder’s next project will be the two part ‘Justice League’ films. Could #unitetheseven pertain to his Justice League team? With the reveal of Aquaman, Snyder will have teased four of seven possible Justice League members. Who could be next? So far we know that Erza Miller has been cast as the Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Could we be seeing either one in full superhero garb anytime soon?

But then of course, #unitetheseven could also be alluding to the fact that there are seven seas on planet Earth that are under Aquaman’s rule. (Personally the teasing of the Justice League members sounds so much better!)

It has been known for some time that Momoa will make his big screen debut as Aquaman in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ but we don’t know how big of a role it will be. Here’s hoping Aquaman gets some decent screen time as this look shouldn’t be wasted on just a cameo appearance.

In the meantime, here’s a much better hi-res version of the image!

‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will be in theaters on March 25, 2016. The standalone Aquaman film is slated to be released sometime in 2018.
