Rumors have been swirling for some time now about ‘Game of Thrones‘ actor Jason Momoa portraying Aquaman, the underwater-dwelling Justice League member in an upcoming DC movie.  Now that seems to have been confirmed and reportedly, Zach Snyder plans to utilize the hero in the currently-in-production ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’.  The character will presumably then go on to appear in the ‘Justice League’ movie, currently planned for 2017.

Reportedly, Aquaman’s appearance in ‘Batman V. Superman’ has him reacting to the destruction wrought on the Indian Ocean by the World Engine in ‘Man of Steel‘.  There is some question as to whether Snyder will actually use the name “Aquaman” though.  (What else would he be called?)  His part is described as small, but due to expand in ‘Justice League’.  Momoa has long been rumored to be appearing in a DC movie, but his name has bounced from character to character from Doomsday to the Martian Manhunter.

So basically, even though this is being widely reported, still take this possible casting news with a grain of salt.

No word on whether the movie version of Aquaman will be altered to resemble the olive-skinned, dark-haired Momoa or if the actor will adapt to more closely resemble the blond-haired, blue-eyed comic book character.  Aquaman has been having a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with his comic actually outselling those of ‘The Flash’ and ‘Superman’ and with him recently gaining a second title.  The character is also slated to play a central role in the next ‘Justice League’ animated movie.

‘Batman V. Superman’ is currently filming with Gal Gadot already having filmed some scenes as Wonder Woman.  Where will Aquaman’s scenes fit within the movie’s structure?

Are you excited to see the King of the Seas in live action on the big screen?  Are there any other heroes you hope will put in an appearance?
