Based on the novel ‘Pines’ by Blake Crouch, Fox’s new show, ‘Wayward Pines’ is M. Night Shyamalan’s first foray into television, and fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating how exactly his particularly thriller/suspense style with a twist at the end will translate onto the small screen. The biggest difference for the man who brought us ‘The 6th Sense’ and ‘Signs’ is the run time of the stories, with a plot that needs to cover an entire season, instead of just the 2 hour story-lines that go with making a movie. Shyamalan himself is directing the pilot to the thriller, with a great cast that includes Matt Dillion as the lead Secret Service Agent, and co-stars Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard, Carla Gugino, Toby Jones and Juliette Lewis. However, many are skeptical that Shyamalan still has any talent left in the tank, especially after the theatrical bombs that were his last two outings on the big-screen. Still, this is a new medium, and the man may yet have some tricks up his sleeve, and clearly the pilot was good enough for Fox to give it the green light, so perhaps ‘Wayward Pines’ will finally be the project to restore fan-faith in the enigmatic director.

“Imagine the perfect American town… beautiful homes, manicured lawns, children playing safely in the streets. Now imagine never being able to leave. You have no communication with the outside world. You think you’re going insane. You must be in Wayward Pines. Secret Service Agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) drives to the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, searching for two missing federal agents. One of the best Secret Service agents in the Seattle office, he’s the man who knew missing agent KATE HEWSON (Carla Gugino, “Watchmen,” “Entourage”) better than anyone. They were more than partners; their relationship nearly destroyed Ethan’s marriage.

Everything changes when a truck slams into his car…and he wakes up in the Wayward Pines Hospital, with the intense and unpredictable NURSE PAM (Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Melissa Leo, “The Fighter,” “Treme”) at his bedside. It soon appears that Pam is more interested in harming than healing. She and Ethan grow into deadly rivals, and her role in the town proves much deeper than anyone realizes.”
