As True Believers enjoy ABC’s ‘Agent Carter’ on Tuesday nights, they are probably still not over the loss of a beloved character during the winter finale of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..’ Though it won’t make up for it by a long shot, we have learned that a few more cast members are heading to the first TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition to Blair Underwood appearing as Agent May’s ex-husband in the second half of this season, veteran actor Edward James Olmos joins the cast as Robert Gonzales, a mysterious character that we know nothing about. When it was first announced that Olmos would be showing up for a major role, all we were told was that he would play someone that “will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team”. But now the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘Dexter’ star himself has more details (albeit small ones) about his upcoming part in the MCU.

In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Olmos showed how well he has already acclimated to Marvel’s ways he is by remaining cryptic and vague when speaking about his ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ role:

“Well, I’ll just put it to you this way: When he smiles, the whole world smiles with him. It says a lot, too. Especially for a guy that made his career out of not smiling!”

After revealing that his arc would be between three to six episodes long, the special guest star discussed who we would be seeing him interact with and what tone we might expect from his contributions to the story:

“I’m working with everyone. I can’t really say too much about him, because they already told me what not to do. [Laughs]

Basically though, us being there really pushes it up and over. The realities are very strong, and storylines are very dark. That’s what makes Marvel, I think, really quite interesting. The heroes all have a flaw, and they all end up pulling through. But you can never tell — they might flip at any moment and become something you weren’t expecting. And I like that. Iron Man is probably the best. And the Hulk. The Hulk became very interesting. Even to this day, we talk about him on the show.”

While we may not know that much more about Robert Gonzales than when we started, but at least we do know that Olmos is enthusiastic about the role. No matter what he ends up doing, I’m sure that the showrunners wouldn’t call in a big acting gun such as this if it weren’t for something awesome. So while we wait to hear more information on the character, share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
