With ‘Arrow‘ and ‘The Flash‘ on The CW and the upcoming ‘Supergirl‘ series on CBS, it’s clear that we’ll never see these TV franchises cross paths like the upcoming ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ teamup. Or, is it? What if the heads over at DC Entertainment decided to go the Marvel route and encourage a shared universe, at least on television? While there is no direct indication that is going to happen, there is a major clue that it could be in the works.

The current issue of ‘Entertainment Weekly’ has a profile on Greg Berlanti who is the executive producer on ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ as well as the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ series that he is developing with Ali Adler and Sarah Schechter. The profile spotlights details on the production of the series and at one key point the article states the following:

Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it’s possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.

With all of the projects being under Berlanti’s guiding hand as well as owned by DC Entertainment the idea could have some merit. While cross network character sharing hasn’t happened yet for the DC Universe, it wouldn’t be surprise me if they are trying to beat Marvel to the punch when we’ll surely see at least one crossover between their new Netflix shows and Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’.

While this isn’t a guarantee that they’ll share the same universe or even see any crossovers, the fact that it is being talked about is a step in the right direction. So in the future it is always possible that we could see Supergirl visit either Starling City or Central City, though not Gotham.
