During yesterday’s massive Marvel event at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles, Kevin Feige and a few special guests revealed the studios’ line-up of Phase Three films, including ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Black Panther’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and more. But when the conversation moved towards Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and their next big adventure after ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’, things got considerably more epic.

So big that one film cannot contain it, ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ will hit theaters on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019. After years of build up to a confrontation with Thanos, the Avengers will finally face the Mad Titan and his signature weapon, the Infinity Gauntlet. Understandably, everyone in attendance went wild for this announcement, but folks at home were only able to learn of the news through liveblogs and tweets. However, we now have the teaser trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest crossover yet. You can check it out below courtesy of /Film, followed by a press release describing the events to come:

The Avengers have already triumphed over Loki, and next summer they’ll face Ultron…but nothing could prepare them for the menace of Thanos.

How big of a threat does Thanos pose, you ask? Big enough to span two epic films, beginning with Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” on May 4, 2018, and concluding in Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2” on May 3, 2019 for one massive cinematic event.

“We’ve always had a plan since Nick Fury broke into Tony Stark’s house and told him he’s part of a bigger universe,” recalled Feige. “‘Avengers: Infinity War Part 1′ is the beginning of the culmination of everything that has come before.”

Hold onto your hats, True Believers, because Phase 3 of the Cinematic Universe is going to be one wild ride! Stay tuned to Marvel.com for the latest on the Avengers and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it develops!
