While you’d imagine if Chris Pine is talking about being in a superhero movie right now it would be for the sequel to ‘Wonder Woman,’ but that isn’t the case here. In fact, the actor’s upcoming cameo has him stepping across the aisle and showing up in a Sony-created Marvel movie! Yes, folks, Pine has done some critical voice work in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘!

Interestingly enough, we’re going to see Pine voicing the same role as Jake Johnson as he’ll be tackling one of the iterations of Peter  Parker within the film. With this being the Spider-Verse we’ve already seen that there will be a multitude of Spider-people running from parallel universes and it should surprise no one that at least a few of them would be Parker.

The actor’s name popped up in the credits for the film, and he’ll be playing what sounds like the Spider-Man from the Ultimate Universe or a version of it which this film starts out in. The Ultimate Line of comics is where Miles Morales was introduced as Spider-Man but before that happened, Peter was running around and saving the day. However, he gave his life to save others and his actions inspired Morales to take over the role as he had been bitten by the same spider as everyone’s favorite wallcrawler.

The Johnson version of the character comes from a different universe which will be just another reason that Morales is surprised to see him. The Peter Parker he knows has already been killed.

Pine will be joining the late and great Stan Lee in doing an audio cameo in the film.
