Over the course of two seasons, we’ve seen a ton of great heroes and villains make the jump from the pages of DC Comics to ‘Arrow’ on The CW. Oliver Queen has already crossed paths with the Suicide Squad, the Huntress, the Clock King, and Amanda Waller, but with the third season on the horizon, even more characters will be making the trip to the small screen this fall. Already confirmed to appear are Brandon Routh as the Atom, Peter Stormare as the new Count Vertigo, and Rila Fukushima as Katana, but now we know of two more guest stars have been added to the Emerald Archer’s series.
The Hollywood Reporter tells us that the first new addition to the cast will be ‘Glee’ and ‘Awkward’ star Nolan Funk. He’ll be featured in the fifth episode titled ‘The Secret Origins of Felicity Smoak’, where the actor will play an old flame of Team Arrow’s resident tech wiz named Cooper Seldon. It’s currently uncertain whether the fellow MIT grad will show up in the present or in flashbacks from Felicity’s past, but we do know that apparently Miss Smoak has a thing for former Dalton Academy Warblers as we saw with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen last season.
Entertainment Weekly brings us the second bit of casting news that says Amy Gumenick of ‘Supernatural’ will play Carrie Cutter AKA Cupid, “a lethal villainess with a dangerously obsessive crush on The Arrow.” ‘Arrow’ executive producer Andrew Kreisberg created the character that will debut in the sixth episode of the new season during his run on the ‘Green Arrow/Black Canary’ series, so naturally the writer is excited to bring her to their own corner of the live-action DC Universe:
“I always loved the idea of Green Arrow having a crazed fan. When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last. Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character.”
Of the two upcoming guest stars, I’m pretty excited about Cupid. I’m not really familiar with the character but Kreisberg’s description has me intrigued. What about you? Which of the guest stars on ‘Arrow’ are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.
