Syfy has a new original space series called ‘Killjoys’ and we have the first shot of the crew. Fans of the network will instantly recognize Aaron Ashmore from ‘Warehouse 13‘ fame, next to him is Hannah John-Kamen who is playing Dutch, and finally Luke Macfarlane who will be playing D’avin Jaqobis. While Syfy series can always be hit or miss, ‘Killjoys’ is being brought to us by the creator of ‘Lost Girl,’ Michelle Lovretta, as well as by the producers of the breakout BBC smash hit ‘Orphan Black.’

The three above are known as the Killjoys. They are a trio of bounty hunters who are chasing down deadly warrants throughout the Quad. The Quad is a system on the brink of a bloody class war that the three are swearing to stay neutral on. While I don’t see any direct proof of this, I almost suspect that by the end of the series they are going to lean more towards how the cast and crew of the Serenity may try to stay neutral.

For the characters, John Jaqobis (Aaron Ashmore) is considered a Level 3 Killjoy and hates conflict. He actually prefers to be a peacemaker and is thought of as cheerful and kind-hearted. Seems like he won’t be straying too far from how he acted on ‘Warehouse 13.’ While he prefers not to fight on the show, his sarcasm gets him into a lot of trouble.

Dutch (played by Hannah John-Kamen) is a top level Killjoy who manages to earn people’s trust and respect regardless of class. She’s a flirt with heavy banter that she uses to keep her mysterious past a secret.

Finally D’avin Jaqobis (Luke Macfarlane) is described as rugged, sarcastic, handsome, and loyal. All he’s ever wanted to be was a soldier and now as a Killjoy he can in a way live out that fantasy.

Here’s the first cast photo below:

Looks like there will be a lot of snark on the show as each of these character seem to like to use banter or sarcasm. If written properly, it could be a treat to watch for that alone. Of course, just the fact that we’re getting a new ongoing series set in space has me excited.
